To build an inclusive music education culture where all children and young people are valued and where they can see their hub providing a range of diverse and relevant musical opportunities and progression pathways.

Local Plan for Music Education Objectives 23-24

  1. To increase impact and value of workforce development programme for school-based colleagues.
  2. To build relationships & identify ways to collaborate effectively with local Teaching Schools and Multi-Academy Trust networks.
  3. To consolidate programme of support for Early Years Music practice across Dorset LA area.
  4. Provide bespoke and differentiated support for Dorset primary phase schools through DMH Membership.
  5. Increase level of engagement with freelance music workforce and support brokering of effective relationships with schools/locality opportunities.
  6. Expand range of and progression initiatives led through musically inclusive practice across DMH partnership.
  7. Develop and embed emerging offers led by DMS that focus on music as a vehicle for improved wellbeing and support for CYP facing challenges.
  8. Increase prominence of youth voice in DMH governance & youth led/co-produced initiatives.
  9. Improve data collection from across schools, DMH partners and the wider workforce – partner activity for Nov 23 collation and growth over 23-24 academic year to shape Needs Analysis for new Dorset & Somerset HLO in 24-25.
  10. Increase level of bursaries and financial support for CYP who would benefit from financial support to enable their access to musical opportunities and progression routes.
  11. Develop governance protocols with DMH Strategy Group and stakeholder special interest groups to co-produce/inform DMH offer.
  12. Increase fundraising/income generation across the DMH partnership in line with DMH’s mission.
  13. Quality framework outline shared with all DMH partners – part of all partnership agreements – and co-production/consultation of quality assurance process with DMH partners.
  14. Promote DMH website with key activities, policies and signpost wider partnership offer – with strong engagement from partner network with support offer within Comms and Engagement plan.

DMS leads on the development of the DMH offer, working across the partnership to deliver the NPME#2 outcomes & strategic priorities around Schools, Inclusion, Partnerships, Progression & Musical Development and Sustainability.
